Timber Wolves of Haliburton

These wild wolves are part of a pack of Timber Wolves, sequestered at a 15 acre enclosure at Haliburton, Ontario. It was truly a unique opportunity to watch and get to know more about these special and elusive creatures of the Canadian woods! Watching them took my breath away. They howl to announce their presence for the sheer joy of it, creating the social bonds that tie the pack closely together. Magnificent creatures; I hope to have the honour of seeing them up close and personal again. The wolf pups are a joy to see, prancing around, barely able to keep from practically dancing. In their first year the family all lounge and play together. After that wolves are no longer considered pups and are in the position of finding their own food and taking their place in the social order of the pack. So darling, I was so delighted to have seen all this and taken a photograph for those who could not be there. |
